I grow Amaryllis outside in my zone 6B garden

I know what you are going to say, they are tropical and not supposed to survive outside but mine have been coming back every year for more than five years. I stored those first bulbs in their pots in a sunny window in our studio. See my blog post about storing your Amaryllis. When the ground was warm enough in the spring to dig and plant, I planted them in a bed near the foundation of my house. I will admit that the proximity of the brick foundation gives them a little added protection.

They have been blooming and multiplying every year since. Try it instead of pitching those perfectly good bulbs, what do you have to lose?

Don't forget to check out my books on Amazon.
