Adult Coloring Books - my new Addiction!

my favorite books
If you haven't seen Adult Coloring books, you will soon. They are everywhere - online, in book stores even at Walmart and Kroger. Kroger actually has the best selection in my town. I bought myself one while Christmas shopping in December and I was immediately hooked. It is a great way to relax and free your mind from stress.  Above are two of my favorite books and at the end of this post are links to FREE PAGES you can print! Even Grandson Tad got in on the fun. See his pages below.

Now I'm taking it one step farther, I'm making a coloring book pages Sketch Book. Like a sketch book but made from my favorite pages plus some embellishment from me. I had the sketch book in my stash of "stuff I might use some day" so I didn't have to buy one but you can find one in craft stores, book stores or re-purpose a notebook or whatever.  Below you can see what I did to the cover of my book and a couple of the pages. I used the poem "When I am Old" as a facing page for this particular page. I have loved the poem by Jenny Joseph ever since my Mother gave me a copy for my 40th birthday. I've worn purple ever since and I've never cared too much about what other people think of me. Pretty soon I'll be:

Inside my book

"spending my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals,
and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired,
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells"

Won't that be fun!

My favorite medium is water color pencils. I have several different ones that I have had for years. I think my favorites are the Intense Colors by Derwent

The next thing I'm going to do is have a Coloring Party. I've already invited my friends, downloaded the pages I am going to offer them to choose from to color. I'm going to furnish each one a box of colored pencils, a page or two to color and some snacks.  I'll post pictures and tell you how that turned out next week. Now here are the Free Page Downloads I promised. I saved all my pages as PDF's so I can keep them and print more but you can print directly from the links if you wish.

This first one is a search that can give you themed pages: Free Pages Search
